2018 TOTAL ARCHERY CHALLENGE (BIG SKY, MONTANA)

we are guys we're at the base of the Thunder wolf lips and hopefully they fire it up Simpson as we're rubbing elbows with some of the coolest people in the industry to rather do it with Brian kalk dirty bowmen I came bold boom with just four arrows dude I like your style ever hear those stories about Chuck Adams going out hunting with only one arrow is that true Chuck Adams going out hunting with only one arrow that like already taken us and who knows the background of the story because they're the same age already oh this is I believe the third year in a row we've opened this day on a chairlift although this chairlift is a different one than before they're doing a little construction up here Big Sky Montana but as you can see the view is gorgeous there's not a cloud in the sky light winds out of the Northwest I don't know where they're kind of a weatherman gonna be fun day or shooting the guys from Yeti Cory Jacob sent a multi-time world elk calling champion Gritti Bowman Sam Soho and Jason mask singer into the high country TV show during the docs Corsicana without not good yeah we have a great group Jordan yeah Montana those special place those of you guys that live in Montana congratulations you really want it life it's probably one of the best states out there I always tell people like where you've been they ask me where you're from them I always say God's country Idaho and I believe Idaho is one of the most beautiful States but I will have to give it to Montana it's just one step above and then you have Utah that's like seven right I'm probably not gonna argue that so I'm not native Utah claim my Oregon roots still anyways today's gonna be a lot of fun stick with us we're gonna shoot straight case right we're not gonna slap the trigger no we're gonna have a smile we were gonna laugh we're gonna have fun by golly by golly we are on target number nine and shooting very fairly well we had some shooters in this group when we got I ran here at 53 yards in the shadows see if gritty Bowman can hit it we said earlier this course has got a lot more realistic hunting situation type shots it's good fun and I've already had an alkali in the bicep big targets are much better to shoot at the metal was a little breather salmon boys retrieving arrows 1:22 a few more targets left ok t-bone and shoot with one arrow for make about 19 or 20 targets now just holding on another time does he finish with it guys or does he not what do you think he has one arrow left was about 4 or 5 targets I'll be draw three exactly I think people are getting tired Broken Arrow started off really good and you lose a little confidence when you start bombing stuff at 116 yards and then you lose your arrow but it's been a lot of fun today such a good group of guys we've not shot with several of these folks before which is probably the coolest part gonna shoot Cory Jacobson who if I'm not mistaken is a 10 time world elk calling champion how's elk 101 a bunch of cool stuff like one of the probably the best elk hunters that is walking around these parts and the Jason Matt singer who has a really sweet project coming out called circle of life about a sheep hunt that he did in Montana last year we're actually I'm gonna watch that tomorrow here and then the guys at Yeti and he all have seen gritty Bowman the mountain ops group before but man super good time and then Sam soul Holt who is a bus owner a public land advocate and he's got an in Canyon ability to call like a wild access deer which we're gonna go track him down and he's gonna call on film so any of you guys that have ever chased access deer in Texas or Hawaii you're gonna be able to listen to Sam and you be like oh my gosh he nailed it so let's go find Sam yeah chips make like new elk hunters or hunters coming from the east we get a ton of emails hey I'm going on my very first elk up or without Wes yep I think the number one thing that I still struggle with and everybody struggles with is the wind and paying attention to the wind is everything in elk hunting even more so let me come in from east you know you think about wind and thermals for whitetail but elk and far more important to stir in the mountains in the thermal difference so everything's wind that's my number one platform and foundation from their callings most exciting part so practice with calls but when you're in the woods don't ever forget the wind if they want to learn more we've got just go to elk 101.com tons of articles everything from beginner to advanced and you're interested in university of alicante an online course a full online course sign up for and learn all you want to know about elk any he knows a couple things about elk I suppose right – how many how many titles is is it double digits now it is 10 10 times 10 time world elk calling champions so yeah he's got a bunch of cool content and the wind something I don't think we think a lot about sometimes because you take it for granted but very good very good tip yeah Sam have some tips for us on calling access change yes so if you're hunting access deer the one sound you need to be aware of and this means that you have been spotted or smelled it's an alarm call it sounds a little bit like this and I hear the people that hunted with Sam we're quite frustrated he kept walking around making that sound whatever the next call is the axis roar it's kind of like the alarm call just a little bit more drawn out it's like I'm uh I'm an 11-time access deer caller I only hunt in Hawaii though there you have it guys world elk calling champion a world axis deer calling chain by the time we got all the folks make sure you go check out Cody rich in the rich outdoors podcast yeah and also go check out Jason mad stingers into the high country which is on sportsman's Channel right it is your Monday night this is on day 90 and make sure you go to myspace and follow them right
