2019 Bowfest Money Shoot Final Shootoffs

2019 Bowfest Money Shoot Final Shootoffs

by winner Lamont the lock resort plays host to snow loving go fast folks by summer these slopes transform into bow fest a music and archery festival made for fun and competition some of the best archers in the world are here to compete for a hefty booty and the title of 2019 bow fest champion and it all goes off right now hello everyone and welcome to superior Wisconsin for bow fest 2019 and a look at the field that was shot here today for what we call the money classes the money shoot there's two of them and there are some competitors on camera a spectacular Ski Mountain turned into a beautiful archery facility hello everyone I'm Greg white and joining me is Joel maxvill Joel good to see you shooter for Matthews beautiful day beautiful weekend so far here oh yeah the facility is amazing and some of the shooting that's been done on the money course has been incredible on the money course we have two classes we have the hunter class and we have the open class and of course in the hunter class we'll explain all the rules to you but we have had tons of shooter shoot and now we're at what well kind of the top five we actually in the open class have a tie for fourth that three archers have tied so we're gonna have a shoot off for that a little bit later on in the broadcast but let's take a look at the field of play in terms of the shoot off for this one as we look at target number one on this one it's a caribou and that one is a hundred yards away and maybe even a little bit more and you can see we're shooting in the middle that dot orange dot is worth 12 points and Joel on the caribou that dot is just under three inches you got to hit that there's also a 10 in play and eight and of course if you get outside the eight ring it's going to be five or a Miss on target number two is going to be our standing elk now that is about 90 to 91 yards away from the standing area where the archers are going to shoot that dot three inches wide our target number three is going to be the Hogzilla that's about 50 yards down range and you can see that the dot on that one two and a quarter inches at 50 yards then we back them up again on target number four and it's the velociraptor the Velociraptor stands 79 yards away but the twelve on that one only two inches Joel yeah I went out and actually measured all of these and then our fifth target is going to be the gazelle and the Gazelle stands only thirty nine and a half yards away but that 12 an inch and a quarter to hit that one the ten ring just four and a quarter inches but that's not all we have a sixth target that's in play now this is the Lynx grabbing at a duck now this is going to be used for two things number one in the normal five targets we're going to shoot when the archer gets to the fifth position they're gonna have the option to shoot the duck and in the middle of the back of the duck that ring that tiny little ring is gonna be worth fourteen points so there's your risk reward do you shoot the Gazelle or do you shoot the duck and go for it well if there is a shoot off for the positions in terms of let's say there's a tie for fourth or fifth we're gonna go on number of twelve shots if there's a tie for first and second it's going to be closest to the center of the body on the Lynx and of course if you're thinking that this is uphill it is uphill isn't a job it's very technical you got a sight Hill actually so your uphill side Hill you got wind there's a lot of lot of factors to the factory yeah this is a ski slope and it's absolutely spectacular there's your course overview now let's take a look at shooter standings we told you there's two classes currently now up top here it's Michael Kimberling and Dane Bennis 210 they shot each in the Hunter bowhunter class and then Kirk Henderson at a 205 and yep familiar face lexi keller at a 199 in this shoot off and then stephen slender at a 198 so that is the bow hunter class in the open pro class these are very familiar names familiar faces they got to shoot twice Joel as you shot this as well so Dan McCarthy 226 in a 224 for total of 450 chance Bob F in second to 22 to 24 46 levi morgan in third spot at the moment david Houser caleb Sorel's and jake gleets all tied and they are going to have to determine who's going to be 4th and 5th we'll see that after the bow hunter class now the interesting thing about this one joel is we're here at the finals this score only determines who gets to pick what target because we reset the score to zero so it's anyone game anyone's game in this right right it's gonna be exciting alright we're gonna take our first break on this one don't go anywhere on the other side we're gonna get things working with the bow hunter division and see who is going to win $5,000 on the line stand by we don't build these bows to be different we build them to be better we're the outsiders the Mavericks the fearless we Forge our own paths we're not chasing anyone but we know what they're running from it's an obsession and the obsessed never rest [Applause] Vince Lombardi once said winning is not a sometime thing it's an all time thing you don't do things right once in a while you do them right all the time winning is a habit unfortunately so is losing I've learned in my career I'm only as good as the tools I use one chance one moment one shot get in the red zone carbon expresses small diameter Maxima red SD taking big-game hunting to an all-new level making other competitors single spine arrows obsolete patented tri spine technology controls arrow flight delivering better downrange energy and accuracy all in a small diameter shaft think you're shooting the best hunting arrow in the game think again stay in the red zone assume nothing and shoot Carbon Express [Applause] [Applause] no one likes dry-rotted targets with its proprietary multi-layer construction and exclusive polyester outer shell Reinhart bag targets can withstand the continuous punishment of the sun's damaging UV rays Reinhardt simply built better welcome back to monster lock resort here at the third annual beau fest for days of fun as we have the stage set for our money shoot the final shoot off to determine 1st through 5th in this one and in the bow hunter class $5,000 for 1st 2004 second a thousand for third we had a very interesting situation though because Michael Kimberling and Dane Ben is tied at the top for 210 so we're going to give it to PJ Riley who's going to settle the score and find out who is going to have the first target pick all right thanks Greg Dane Bennis Michael Kimberling we're gonna have a coin toss here to see who gets to pick first standard quarter heads tails Dane you're gonna go first because of alphabetics and we're just gonna flip it here call it what let's do that again call it in the air and we have heads all right Dane so where do you want which target do you want to take target number one go stand over there next up Michael you want to take target number three take your position Kurt you are next to number two chin all right so there you go Greg white here with Joel Maxfield and Joel very interesting I think that Dane Venice decided to choose target number one that's a caribou a hundred yards down range 100 yards for the first shot out of the gate is gonna be interesting yeah now I think one of the reasons that the Dane did that is also keep in mind he'll get to target number five which is going to be that gazelle and he'll know what the other scores are and he'll have the option to call the 14 or not so a good move by Dane and this is this is it though if you want to have that advantage on the last target you're taking the risk on the very first shot being 100-yard poke downrange all right so here's the way the situation works target number one will shoot first then two three four and five and each shooter will shoot individually so the moment that the arrow impacts on target number one then the shooter on target number two which you're going to be Kurt Henderson is going to have to line up and take his shot so once PJ gives everyone the okay once they're all set and ready to go giving them a moment to make sure they're sighted in PJ's going to tell these shooters to get it moving where time starts and on down the line your time startsnow Dean what about lighting what do you think Joel lighting conditions here the wind not huge factors has been all weekend yeah it's kind of calm down you see the angle of which he's shooting it is uphill and a hundred yards and he sends it oh what a shot so a good connection look like it hit that 12 that might be in the ten ring it's our next up here is gonna be Kurt Henderson who came in third Anderson bricklayer previous a sa experience so that looks like it's outside the eight ring so you have the dot is the twelfth second ring is gonna be the tenth and then you have that third ring which is going to be your eighth and then anything on the animal is going to be a five this is Michael Kim Burlington was tied for first coming in it looks like it's gonna be an eighth or kimerling here's Lexy Keller story with Lexie is she actually cut her hand and has some stitches in her holding arm she launches it looks like a decent shot and this will be Steven slender with a 198 slender 44 years old self-employed working in the cattle trade bit of a moan from the crowd on that one so now what'll happen is we're gonna have our scores that are going to go up the hill they're already up the hill it's so steep here in such a long pole they're getting out there and it in a UTV Joel alright so tell me what did you think you saw from the first round of shooting here in the boat winter class it was an excellent shot on that caribou that caribou is a very nice shot mm-hmm all right so our scores you can see them coming to the picture now they're gonna take a look and they have scorecards they're gonna hold those up once they determine the value you're gonna go grab those scorecards so the first one a 10 value good shot great shot at 100 yards all right so now we're gonna move down to the standing elk I'm gonna try to keep score here Joel we have a ten for the first one it's gonna be a five a little bit high yeah a little bit high for Anderson so the next one on target number three is going to be Michael Kimberling from our vantage point looks pretty clear here that's going to be an eighth value yeah it looks like an eighth all right so I think what they're going to do here is actually stop at Target number four because target number four which is our velociraptor is further up the hill but from the angle from the platform where they're shooting which by the way the folks here at the Monta lock they actually created an eight is the score that's going to be for Lexy Keller they actually created a concrete platform for the shooters to come shoot a nice concrete flat platform that was created specifically for archery so now they're gonna trek across the beautiful downhill slope here on this ski run now this is target 3 this is gonna be Kimberlin we saw that one we held up that's an 8 our final one is going to be Steven slender as we move down and again Stephen had the option if he wanted to try to call the 14 on target number five he had the option to call that link so you know grabbing at that duck at that Mallard but he choose each chose to shoot the gazelle and it looked like a really good shot and that's the closest one we have on this range what are the interesting things here as if the day goes on you can see the shadows being cast is that a factor as we get into the 7:15 7:30 hour yeah lighting is definitely a factor I was practicing yesterday evening in the lighting was pretty tricky in the evening our score is taking a look and that's going to be an 8 so just outside of it now difference here Joel I'm compared to some of the 3d shoots that a lot of people go to is you actually have to cut the line here you it's not a pull the line it's an actual cut the line right did you see that as being a bit of a score differentiator at times I never in into it today no it was a pretty well in or out all right so archers will shift over one position so on target number one we're gonna have Steven slender he's on the right part of your screen there's PJ on target number two is going to be day in Venice he's left part of your screen score upper left-hand corner of c venice leads with a ten dear Steven slender on that hundred yard caribou so the rules are you get one let down so one time you get to let it down and then draw again so on this arrow he's got to let it fly all right so we thought this is a very very difficult target so just getting the animal on that one or Steven here's our current leader Venice on the Grand Rapids Michigan very tricky Joel the breeze that blows here because there's there's trees off to the distance but then you have maybe 100 yards of hillside so it can get pretty tricky yeah that's pretty open nice shot content thrown from the crowd another good solid shot for the 33 year old Venice it's going to be Kurt Henderson 2:05 qualifying round trying to study the bow that's an 8 now Joe let's go over these these rules real quick for the bowhunter classes those the tuned in so you shoot unlimited I shoot unlimited we have long stabilizers on the front long stabilizers on the side the lenses all that's gone you can see the bows that we're looking at here so that would have been target number 3 actually which is there it is oh no that would have been target number 4 actually that we were on is now Lexy Keller is lined up to shoot the Gazelle a great shot from her I'm not gonna poke downrange here at the target number 4 and that would have been Michael kimerling who was shooting at the Velociraptor I'll tell you what y'all I'll give you these by nose but I don't actually see an arrow in that target I didn't hear an impact yeah so in the bow hunter class though it's no lenses on your scope only one 12-inch stabilizer on your bow and the arrows actually have to have screw in points right how big of a difference is it shooting a bow in the bow hunter class versus the open and limited class yeah I actually brought my bow hunting bow that I hunt with full of air quiver full arrows the whole deal and that's what I shot today and it is way different than shooting our competition equipment lexicon over the 12 crowd erupts for one of our top female pros who Alexi made those moves she had her bow she decided okay this is the first time she shot without a without a lens and with a short stabilizer and also though one of the things that we know about Lexie is is that some of the Open Pro guys were having a look at her bow because she was saying that she actually only has a sight tape out to 80 yards all right so that's an 8 on target number 3 so that was for Henderson scorann eight and here's where we're going over to target number four again what our scores are doing is moving back and forth on the targets that makes sense as they climb up the hill so they're up and down so they're gonna be looking for this arrows we didn't see an impact and it's going to be Michael kimerling yep and they're calling that a blank one so that's a Miss for kimerling [Applause] so that's a Miss for Kimberling it's gonna be a zero on that one alright so now we're gonna move up to target number two and this was our leader Dane Bennis he's already in here with the ten and looked us that he doubled it and he did [Applause] as he move up to target number one Joel I'm just looking at the shadows that are cast on these targets and how difficult it is even for us to see it down here but the shooters in a bit of a different position now the Sun is pretty much right off of their shoulder now lighting is definitely going to be a factor or later in the day here aren't five for Steven slender all right so that should move net Lexy Keller Lexi Keller is gonna be on target number one and this is what we were talking about moments ago she's shooting the caribou and what happens as you can see the scope of her you know her scope on her site because of a variety of factors right Joel we were talking draw a length and of course you know the amount of poundage whatever the further she shot out is eighty so what you do in this situation you know it's it's gonna be a little bit of a guessing game she's gonna have to use Kentucky windage a little bit cuz she's only got marks day eighty all right so when PJ gives us the green light to go once he feels everyone has had an opportune time to range it get their sights set he's gonna tell him when to roll Vijay archers Lexi you're up whenever you're ready your time starts there's a hush over the crowd right now everyone's holding their breath because we were all here to hear what's going on with Lexi can she aim far enough over the top of the target she lets it fly and Oh looks like unfortunately I don't see any impact on that one at least not from our our camera Vantage we don't see the entire target looking down at the feet I don't see it so it looks like it might be a miss for for Lexi turret number two this is Steven slender see slender in with a 13 at the moment impact on now and looks just low out of the ten ring so that's gonna score an eight for a million eight mm-hmm here's our current leader tied actually with Lexi after but we know she just had a Miss on that one he lets it go left side good distance on that one just drifted a little left Kurt Henderson you see the 46 year old launches that one who that could be an eight-five liner it looks like it might have the line all right and Michael kimerling who's coming off of a Miss on the last arrow Kimberling sends it that one on the Giselle drifted way right and I think he might be outside of that eight ring in with a five you can see the way the shadows are being cast right now difficult to see that so our crew is gonna start on the Giselle and again Kimberling had the option to go for that duck but you can see the duck was just over his head it's off to the left on your screen as we wait the score how difficult do you think you know you got to stand up there and take a look at that duck so a five or Kimberling how difficult would it be to take that shot well the you know the target the scoring rings aren't necessarily any smaller but the target is what's intimidating you know it's it's difficult to aim it's a smaller target even though you're still a me of the middle target number three this is going to be Dean Menace and he's in with an eight so ten ten eight so far that'll move him to twenty eight and keep in mind what's at stake here in this class five thousand dollars for first two thousand per second a thousand for third fourth place gets $500 and then $250 for fifth place they actually paid in this tournament back to 10th it was $100 to enter this class and they pay $100 sixth through tenth so quite a few people getting their money back and having an outstanding fun time here at this chute on to the Velociraptor 79 yards down range and that will score an eight on target number four for Kurt Henderson so far for Henderson five and two eights next up is gonna be target number two Steven slender and he'll get an 8 on that one so also 8 5 8 and then on to Lexie who had that daunting task of trying to send it a hundred yards down range with not quite enough room on the site for that one and we're scoring that one a Miss for her so Lexi's still in at 18 points now this unfortunately for Alexia she moves over to target number 2 which is still 90 yards down range Joel this isn't really helping her at all because it was 80 the max that she said right very very little margin of error there mm-hmm so kimerling is going to move to target number one keller will be on target number two on target number three will be slender on target number 4 will be Bennis and then Kurt Henderson will be on target number 5 right archers everybody ready Michael the field is yours would you shark when you start shooting Lexi you're up next kimerling 31 years old not a Phelps Wisconsin sends it you know I think Joel is it fair to say that Kimberly who obviously shot outstanding to get in here was tied for first at a 210 I think maybe after his Miss he got word a little rattled right yeah it does kind of shake you here's Keller and she got it she got at least animal which is not an easy thing to do on this one especially with the way your sight is so that's going to be a solid five points for her slender downrange oh good shot good shot on that 50-yard Hogzilla looks like he's gonna cut that ten line our leader Bennis good shot on velociraptor and the crowd can see exactly where that one landed so Bennis day in venice continuing to put pressure on the rest of this field Kurt Anderson going for the gazelle didn't hold up that 14 that one drifted right looks like it's gonna be a five outside of that eight ring so now to the top of the hill we go for our first score Michael kimerling having a long look up the hill at this caribou now you know that the dot we talked about that 12 that orange dot measures 3 inches the ten ring is about seven and three-quarters he scores an eight for Kim ruling by the way if you're watching in Europe that dot is seven point four centimeters down to target number two and Lexi Keller last time we saw her at the hundred yard Polk missed that one now on the standing elk she'll get a good five on that one what do you think Joel I mean I think that's kind of a win for her at this distance at this point being a this is a last-minute decision to come here and shoot oh yeah I mean you know your your murder in the mirror when you're trying to Gus is you can't be more than a few yards off and that's our first time looking at it at that distance so it's not like she's got any references on the on the hillside so now we're gonna move to target number four they in Venice our leader and he shot this arrow and wouldn't land at the crowd let out a big cheer and for good reason it's a ten he did win the coin toss at the beginning maybe that was part of it so this course very interesting I mean what are some of the variety targets that we had on the course before we got to this finals area that you thought was very interesting that we had during the qualification round with our twenty targets well it's the first time I ever shot a penguin a 10-foot high penguin right that was fun a penguin there's a massive camel a ten on target number three for Steven slender he'll enjoy that one that's his first ten as we head to our final arrow of regular competition on target number five Kurt Henderson choosing the gazelle not to risk it on the 14 and that was a five for him [Applause] let's take a look at the replay what do you see in his release our leader Venice it was very very crisp I mean he's kind of good he's got good form there's reason they're going in the middle yeah it's always interesting to watch his boat hunter class with not as much weight as the open class and no lens how some of these archers can be so stable on the release all right so as we shift over to this final is the final and regulation Dane Benes is on target number five see what he chooses he's got now a a nice sizable lead over slender moved his way into third spot oh that was a great shot from Kurt Henderson now it was kimerling and so a high left one eight now Lexi Keller on target number four sorry target number three that's a 50-yard shot a little high on that one for Keller looks like it might be close to the ten ring yeah that's pretty tough to call from here mm-hmm our second-place shooter just even slender you could use a 12 on this one Velociraptor was like a 10 oh no just drifted left here's your points leader he's going for the $5,000 and bow fest champion what a shot what a shot a little to the right but might catch that 10 as our scores are gonna come out so let's see let's take a look at how this one's gonna pan out Joel because with the 10 if Venice actually scores this 10 that's going to be a 48 for him taking a quick look so tide coming in here and after qualification on to 10 and he does he gets a 10 Wow how about that for Dane Venice 33 years old Grand Rapids papermaker 10 10 8 10 10 target number 3 as we moved up to this is Lexi Keller they're having a close look at that one that wouldn't look like it was on the line you know it was really close hard to tell from here you're watching our coverage of boat fest 2019 here in superior Wisconsin at the Mont the lac resort in the bow hunter class and it's an 8 for Keller outstanding for her just to show up take take the lens out take the stabilizers off she has stitches in her hand and she'll still come out with with quite a quite a nice score 8 12 a Miss but a 5 and an 8 so good job for Keller I talked to her yesterday she didn't know that if she was gonna shoot or not yeah yeah she just showed up and she lives a few hours five hours down the road right so good for her for showing up and making this shoot off and in the money and eight on the Velociraptor [Applause] or Steven slender we've had a chance at this one that's going to move him to 39 and an 8 on target number two for kimerling and that hundred-yard downrange shot what a shot uh ten so as we update our scores for you you can see that after our five arrows we have a clear winner in this one and the winner is going to be Dane Venice but we'll take the championship and he'll head over and talk to PJ Riley on his win at the 2019 Oh fest taken away congratulations that was some stellar shooting out there tell me about it thank you thank you very much thank you so you came right out of the gate with a ten on the caribou I mean that had to boost your confidence that's the longest one that was ridiculously long how'd you feel going through it you said you've never shot anything like this but how were your nerves pretty nervous on that first target as things progressed it felt a lot slower it it was going okay when you came into this tournament did you think you were gonna make it to the finals what were your expectations when you started shooting I'm typically a donator anytime there's a money shoot involved so it is really cool to have some success all right Dean will congratulations you're the money shoot bowhunter division winner well he showed up like agile what do you think $5,000 richer after coming out of this one yeah that's fantastic he shot well on the course and phenomenal in the shoot off Henderson is going to be our third place finisher slender in second and then it's gonna come down to Lexie Keller will take fourth and kimerling in fifth spot all right we'll take a break on the other side when we come back we're gonna get things going for the open class some of the biggest names in the sport are coming up stay with us [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] right now save up to $20.00 on the incredibly tough Reinhardt bag target the only bag target that provides five layers of protection against the sun's harmful UV rays protecting your bag from dry rot see your local dealer or visit Reinhardt 3d comm for full details welcome back to superior Wisconsin here at bow fest 2019 my name is Greg white and Joe Maxfield sitting next to me a Matthews shooter now Joel this has been a spectacular event here I mean bow fest is home to four 3d archery courses featuring 60 3d targets that on rugged terrain featuring several water hazards and elevation you got to shoot those courses how were they I did those courses were phenomenal some of the funnest 3d that I've ever got to shoot because the the trails and the hills and the the technical part of the shots were just fantastic well I'll tell you what you see three shooters right there that are on the line because we are in the open class and we have to determine who's going to be fourth and fifth let's go to pj reilly for the information all right archers we're trying to break a tie here to get fourth fifth and sixth place our first shot is gonna be at the Bison when everybody signals that you're ready I'll say archers you can shoot now and then you're all gonna shoot simultaneously you know you have you know the rules one let down however long it takes you so just give me the sign when everybody's ready all right archers the fields yours all right so these 3 archers came in tied and we're back on our regular course and there's a bison that's set I can't where was that 85 yards down range target number 20 this is Caleb Sorrels who's in the middle David Houser closest to you and Jake gleets and they're shooting three arrows and it's going to go off of score first and then we're going to determine who is going to be sixth fifth and fourth now here's what we do know is you take a look at that target you could see in David Hauser's quiver that he has yellow veins caleb Sorel's has orange veins and gleets has white well what's going to happen is mark is taking a close look at those arrows right now to determine if there is an archer who is the lowest value the lowest value arrow he's gonna pull that arrow and he's gonna hold it up and we're gonna tell you you can see that arrow is a 10 so no question about that one that's gonna be David Howser that was a good shot so he definitely advances on this one so now it's down to the next two arrows and they're gonna pull those so all right so now what we have is a tie for fifth place at the moment so we know that David Howser is in it and David Howser will be fourth in this one so it's gonna go between these two archers here Caleb's orals on your left and Jake gleets on the right so Hauser's in he'll be shooting against a couple of top guys Dan McCarthy chance Bob F and Levi Morgan in that order and now it's going to go to David Hauser in fourth so we're gonna move on to our second target second target is fallow deer that is interesting for me because when they when they looked at this deer that's gonna be target 18 that you can see in the upper right hand part of your screen I didn't know that that target if you look at the top of it it actually has an apple on its mouth and when I first got here and I was standing way back I go why do they have Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer down there I didn't realize that was an apple but that one's also a really decent Pope let's get back to PJ all right archers Caleb Jake we're now shooting at target number 18 same rules apply when you guys say you're ready the field is yours everybody's ready okay archers your shot all right so the situation is again this is going to go on score if these two archers tie we're gonna go to the turkey and it's got to be closest to the center we've got to take their time and execute looks very still at the moment Jake releases first then Caleb lets it fly oh and it looks like it's going to be the same score so it's gonna be an eight for these two archers so now what's going to happen is is that we're gonna go to the turkey which is in the middle of the hill and that the Joel the turkey has got a very small 12 dot it's tiny yeah it's tiny and the ring seemed very small in the turkey so it's gonna go to a closest to the center pj take it away what do you see him all right archers that was a tile on that one four score so this one we're shooting at the turkey in the middle of the field this one is closest to center so we will have a winner after this just let me know when you're ready caleb you ready Jake you're ready archers of fields yours alright so this is to determine who's actually going to get into this shoot off and compete for $10,000 closer to the center the archer advances jake with the release and caleb so now it's kind of determine who is closest to the center jake drilled it jake elites nailed that one so it's gonna be caleb Sorrels who's gonna have to bow out of this one so he'll be credited with sixth place in this one a good effort for the young man who lives in Virginia Sorel's also works for shrewd and working the event this weekend but really outstanding shooting for him so he'll walk away with $200 his entry fee back in sixth place and that means that jake gleets advances to a clean sheet of paper everyone resets to zero so the situation is very simple on this one as you've seen before we're going to give it a pj as he talks to the archers and finds out who's going to do what on what target all right archers were in for the open class finals congratulations on making it here Dan McCarthy you are our leader you get first choice of targets which would you like to shoot let's start on three Dan's gonna start on number three chance you are second place which target number one number one four chance Levi you're our third place finisher where would you like to start I think I'm gonna start four all right and David Hauser fourth place which would you like I'll start number two number two so Jake target 5 yes sir all right it's the same rules guys chance will shoot first once his arrow hits everyone moves on down the line chance just give me the nari interesting choice you know what to be honest with you Joel this is what chance Bob F really wanted he wanted to start on one and get to fight because he wanted to be able to determine his own fate if he needed the 14 bonus on the duck ooh chance let's that one fly and again that is the hundred-yard caribou would you see it's a little low end up a little low David Howser just coming off of his David let that one fly nice shot good shot see the look on his face when he let it go I was like looks pretty good there buddy alright this is gonna be Dan McCarthy and Joel Dan McCarthy has quite a story about coming here doesn't he yeah he got here yesterday and 50 yards down range that's just a poke for Dan McCarthy here's Levi Morgan by the way Dan McCarthy Levi Morgan going at it and shoot of the year in a essay competition next week Levi drifts it right it's been something he's been telling me since he got here he just hasn't had that setup Levi also with his opa bo and his max distance to a couple yards short on the hundred yarder leads with a good shot there just outside of the 12 ring I believe on the gazelle for Jay cleats scouring time as our group is gonna come walking down the hill first to be scored on 100-yard caribou chance bob fa5 yeah we saw that one drift low so you know what I mean I'm already telling you right now the chance is probably thinking about the 14 on the duck on target fight he may have to make up some ground for sure mm-hmm all right next is gonna be David Hauser house are on target number two on the standing elk 10 for the first target once again we're gonna shoot five targets in regulation Joel and the highest score wins if we have ties we're going to go to 12 rings if it's not for first place if there's a tie for first place we're gonna go to a single aryl shoot single arrow shoot off closest to the center on the links that is our bonus target all right number four is Levi Morgan Morgan with an eight and right drift for a leave I tell you when they shot their second round of qualification Dan McCarthy came here and shot both his qualifications in the same day and Levi came out with chance and David Hauser and it was pretty windy but they put on quite a show to get to within you know only a couple of points of Dan McCarthy in this one so target number three this is Dan who came in here with an unbelievable 450 points so McCarthy and 12th and gold you were talking about it so Dan McCarthy yesterday wakes up 6 o'clock in the morning does some work eight o'clock says you know what I'm driving six hours I'm coming to bow fest there is a great tournament going on here $10,000 on the line and he came in here got out of his car and sat here and just range fine and checked his bow got a good night's sleep and shot both of them unbelievable fleets in with the 10 yeah you know I listen you've know Dan McCarthy a long time fair to say that when Dan McCarthy shows up to a tournament he's single-minded focus on being a professional Archer absolutely he's he's always a threat to win the tournament for sure all right so gleets is gonna move to target number one Bob F is gonna be on target number two Hauser on target number three Dan McCarthy moves to four and Levi Morgan on five now chance your shoot and second I didn't see Levi grab that 14 card good shot by jet cleats might just be under the tannery or cutting that line there's chance beau Bev learned about this tournament a couple weeks ago that one I don't know Joel it's too close to to call from here from there that's either a 10 or an e here's David Hauser how's it with a good 10 Hauser today struggled a bit and found himself in that three-way tie for 4th place he definitely rebounded to get into this one interesting though you see the shadows on Dan's face from Levi Morgan I don't think that bothering him Amy it's hard to say that when he jumped really high uncharacteristic shot from Dan McCarthy that one is the Velociraptor 79 yards away here's Levi Morgan working on the gazelle another shot Joel I think might be a little bit right yeah another one drifting right I saw the 10 for Levi but from our vantage point looking at Levi he just grabbed a couple clicks on his sight now when I say grabbed a couple clicks on the site what does that mean well he's he's actually a dusting his site over to the right to try to compensate for some of the some of the right issues that he's having so we'll change an order from our bow hunter you're gonna go back to the top of the hill is our scoring crew out they go on this one and a look at the caribou Jay cleats having a good long look at that one and again it's not about pulling lines it's about about cutting them lease with another ten two in a row for him not a chance Bob F on the standing elk you talked about this earlier Jill very tricky course here yes it's not even straight up a hill is it yes you know you got the side hill and that's bubble issues I mean your bubbles got to be perfect in your third access has to be set correctly there are practice bales that are up a hill as well so archers having an opportunity they set bales did a great job for the practice range but I know a lot of these a sa 3d type archers were as an 8 in for Dan McCarthy shaking his head but very interesting you you've shot some 3d in your career right oh yeah and so how comfortable is it to actually have to shoot uphill the entire tournament yeah I shoot a hinge and so it's very difficult to get it to go off consistently uphill you know the angles and the technical aspect of this range is is a pretty substantial David Howser 10 for him now we're gonna move down the hill to Levi's Morgan told you moments ago that's a second shot that he's had to the right uncharacteristic of Levi he grabbed a couple clicks so I expect to see that as Levi just kind of turns and so it tends to Levi but see that's the opportunity missed isn't it Joel when you're looking at the shortest target or the target that's you know it's only thirty nine and a half yards away those are the opportunities you have to jump on to get those twelve in this field you gotta have those if you're just joining us here at month alakh in superior Wisconsin as we're shooting for $10,000 prize here in the open class we have scoring rings Levi's you the middle painted orange is a 12 then we have ten eight and five – Levi Morgan on target number one this is where Levi said he's take one 298 yards so he's got to aim off a bit and I think he's happy with that shot that looks like a 10 for Levi on that hundred yard caribou next up is gonna be Jake cleats you can see we have a tie 20 20 20 between gleets Hauser and McCarthy so every arrow becoming extremely important on this one a 10 on the 90 yards standing elk the chance Poe Beth who's got some points to make up on this one it wants to be in contention for the big money that's not gonna do it a little bit right a little bit right now Hauser it was found himself in a shoot-off 4/4 now heading into this arrow tied for the lead whoa that's a big move by Hauser on a velociraptor 79 yards away now Dan McCarthy no one has gone for that 14 yet Dan goes for the ghazal Dan drops that one out of the 12 ring wait a second wait a second Joel do we have to a VAT Hauser who was just in a shoot-off to even get into this thing for fourth place leading this after scoring yeah just to give you an idea what they're here for once again beau fest here at Mont de lock in superior Wisconsin an absolute beautiful place I mean you sign up you get your get your wristband and you have all these courses that you can shoot helicopter rides you have there's a night shoot and of course this money shoot and $10,000 for first 4,000 for second 3 mm for third and then fourth place for a thousand fifth for $500 know that for Levi now we're moving on to Jake gleets 10 for him [Applause] now as the Velociraptor is the big one for David Howser this is target number four and you can see him picking up that 12 it's a great shot for Howser SOTA target number three it's gonna be chance Bob F great conditions for chance I think not as comfortable in the wind definitely not as comfortable shooting up hill but enjoyed the atmosphere here and he gets an eighth chance was another one who kind of heard about this this is Levi's second appearance at this tournament and he heard about this from his friend Levi Morgan as did David Hauser so they made plans to come here this event happened in 2020 by the way same time last full weekend in July as Dan McCarthy with a 10 that's gonna mix this order up all of a sudden now pressure goes on David Hauser so far joel these top shooters that we have there's only been 212 shot Hauser shot one on the first one Danny McCarthy that's a little surprised by that it's a little surprising but the lighting in the side Hill is it's tricky Dan you're up so Dan McCarthy on target number one the longest shot we have of the weekend hundred yards maybe a little whoa I think Dan just drilled that one I mean it's on the left side but it looks like that might be at 12 doing it on the hard ones isn't he here's Levi Morgan that one dropped low and that looks like gonna be a five Joel yeah it's pretty low so Levi at the moment letting it slip away from him gleets Jake bleats coming in here in fifth place on Hogzilla looks like he just drilled it in the middle for 12 in the orange dot here's chance Bob F trying to make some moves good shot by chance and again it's not a pull the line it's a cut the line that one's gonna be really close we'll wait to see what the judge does here's our current leader David Hauser on target number five Howser lets it rip just outside and Howser with a grimace on that one as that's an opportunity to lost after it could be a 12 for Dan McCarthy you don't want to open the door for McCarthy on that one so now the trip up the hill for our scoring team is this crowd continues to look on here at OU fest 2019 by the way just to give you an idea if you want to check it out in 2020 July 24th 25th 26th timeframe Ted Nugent gonna be the musical act here on the 24th and Charlie Daniels on the 25th you got to check out Bo fest comm for more information put this one on your calendar early because it is absolutely spectacular alright so for Dan McCarthy solid unbelievable his second 12 of this one arrow number four in the books with one to go in regulation this could be all tied up at the top after this scoring round between McCarthy and Howser it's getting tight alright for Levi Morgan 5 for Levi we move down the hill to target number four again if you look at the line of sight you can tell the target number three isn't a direct line this is actually to the right of it but it is further up the hill the velociraptor 79 yards two inches on that twelve and that's going to be chance and it's a 10-4 chance Oh Bev [Applause] so chance so far with the five to ten and eight and ten now 2j cleats it's the interesting about this tournament it was all squared up and Glee to a twelve he's absolutely ripping up three tens into 12 so far for Jake down the hill the Howser who was trying to hold on to this lead had that thirty nine and a half gazelle going for that gunnin for that 12 but it's gonna be ten for him so so far listen I'm no math genius here but it's looking pretty good between Howser gleets and McCarthy all tied up at the top forty two points apiece now for gleets and Hauser they got there the same way a 12 and three tens from McCarthy to 12s and eight and a 10th at 42 and then a tie for fourth place at the moment this is the final arrow well we could have a shoot off on this one alright so David Hauser on target number one as a helicopter takes off just over the target so he's got a distraction Ken Hauser nailed this one a hundred yards Caribou Hauser does have the option of a letdown he lets it fly Hauser is that an eighth possibly a five on the upper left-hand part helicopter taking off Dan McCarthy who's tied for this lead trying to grab it on a 90-yard standing elk he sends it down right Joe are you kidding me the door is opening the door is open for Jake gleets so Levi Morgan on target number three a 50-yard Hogzilla Morgan trying to break that tie and he does a solid shot a 12 for Levi in that orange dot now Jake leads at full draw he is on the Velociraptor 79 yards away if he twelves this one this could be over you see the fling oh nice leads unbelievable 12 all right here we go this is gonna be the final arrow for chance Bob F Chance has pulled up the 14 card he is waved it at us we saw it so this is gonna be the first word of the day chants Bob F going for the duck at a dime size 12 a Lynx grasping for a duck chance Bob F going for the 14th we love seeing this it is such a small target oh that is so close oh man if he's cutting that line it looked like Jen's got that one as we zoom in to try to take a clean so close we are not calling it from the booth Joel I guarantee you that it was a great shot that's what we expect from chance chance loves taking the chance rolling the dice going for broke Wow can you imagine could this be it Joel Jake gleets who has to shoot his way into this we go down to a final closest to the center arrow to him to even get into this final shoot off a look at gleets oh so the first one is David Howser David Howser is going to be in with an eighth that's gonna move Howser 250 points after Howser time for the lead big sigh from Howser now we're gonna move to Dan McCarthy also on 42 and Dan Widow 5 moving him to 47 and here we go down to the Velociraptor you think this crowd is gonna erupt when they hold up this card Joel you know it's a fantastic shot the Velociraptor a 12 for Jake Lakes Wow 54 points for cleats and there's no one who's going to touch him now we're gonna move on to target number three Levi's Morgan on this Hogzilla in a 12-4 Levi's gonna take him to 45 points and then there's chance who pulled out all the stops the only shooter on the day to go for the 1414 for chance he nailed it that'll take dance 247 gotta check this math so it looks like from our math that it's gonna be Jake elites who is going to be the 2019 beau fest champion is there gonna check but it looks like also that we're gonna have a tie for looks like we're gonna have a tie for third place possibly so there it is Jake cleats will take the win in this one unbelievable for Jake and it's gonna be David Hauser who's gonna take second and then for third place it's gonna be Dan McCarthy who's gonna take third place based off based off of the amount of twelves so that'll do it so it's Jake gleets who is going to be our champion as he's gonna head on over and chat with our PJ Riley $10,000 what a journey that Jay clits has had to make it to this point he was fifth place before Dan McCarthy's arrival yesterday finds himself in a tie for fourth place and is able to shoot his way into this one and now he can call himself Bo fast 2019 champion in the open division PJ gleets how about that coming in here tell me about that round I don't know I I didn't expect to compete with any of these guys they're all names that I look up to and I figured they didn't know who I was and I just figured I'd shoot and see what happen they certainly know who you are now but you had to go into a shoot off just to get in here I mean how did that play with you mentally again I was like I'm just gonna shoot I don't really think I can beat them but I'll just do what I can and see what happens so the long stuff I mean you were solid on your tens there you got twelves when you needed them I mean did you feel any nerves you look steady as a rock sometimes I feel like I have more nerves competing with my friends cuz like I know how they can shoot I just I didn't think I stood a chance against these guys so all right Jake well congratulations Bo Fest 2019 open-class champion that was a great win all right so Jake leads Forge our own paths we're not chasing anyone but we know what they're running from it's an obsession and the obsessed never rest [Applause] Vince Lombardi once said winning is not a sometime thing it's an all time thing you don't do things right once in a while you do them right all the time winning is a habit unfortunately so is losing I've learned in my career I'm only as good as the tools I use one chance one moment one shot get in the red zone carbon expresses small diameter Maxima red St taking big-game hunting to an all-new level making other competitors single spine arrows obsolete patented tri spine technology controls Aero flight delivering better downrange energy and accuracy all in a small diameter shaft think you're shooting the best hunting arrow in the game think again stay in the red zone assume nothing and shoot Carbon Express [Applause] [Applause] no one likes dry-rotted targets with its proprietary multi-layer construction and exclusive polyester outer shell Reinhart bag targets can withstand the continuous punishment of the sun's damaging UV rays Reinhardt simply built better welcome back to superior Wisconsin and absolutely spectacular bow fest and this money shoot Joel Maxfield let's talk about it I mean we saw two great classes compete oh yeah it was fantastic the you know the money shoot shoot itself was was challenging enough but this shoot off in the evening with the shadows and the side hills it was crazy difficult by the way I just saw Jake and he just handed me this so do you think that this is gonna cash at the local bank before we get out of here cuz I just stole it from him it didn't work for happy gilmore it did listen everyone you got to go check out Bo fest com we still have one more day they're open til 3 o'clock you can come
