2019 US Youth Soccer – 14U Boys Championship Final – 10:45am – Field 6

we managed to nationalism that was amazing because we were one of the best I think that that time was the four teams it was a round-robin and actually it was the best four teams in the whole nation and so we thought we were just the next best thing since sliced bread and I think that playing in that tournament was so surreal because you saw you played against other club teams that were so good and and at the same level as you that you you know don't necessarily always get the chance or opportunity to play against which was so great for us because we right wow these girls are at like just as good as us it's not better and we have to compete at the highest level and play these three games or thought yeah I was around Robins wood before but still that just reminds me of how competitive I was in my teammates were at that age which also I think helped me get to the next level and being that competitive at the club level I mean has only helped me you know continue to grow and a competitive spirit and love all that I'm playing at right now the national championship it was really really special I think that was like the biggest thing I had really won and that's kind of for youth soccer growing up but was kind of the ultimate prize and I think we were always super ambitious and in achieving that and to have that happen and I think what's so special about youth soccer is that it's really your family the girls that you grow up with become like your sisters and and you do everything and there's just like such a strong camaraderie there so to play with a team that you've played for for a while with and with these girls it's a very special feeling to to win something those were really great moments because at such a young age I feel like I was competing for something and really working hard to you know perform for my team and it was no longer just about you know whatever the result is is the result I mean at the end of the day you know you win some you lose some but that was probably the moments that I was like whoa we got a win we got a state championship on our hands that we could actually bring home and I think those are really cool moments because you know you remember a lot of the times that you win you know you you try to remember the losses as well because you do learn from them but at the same time you you want to remember the wins that you have so state championships we're definitely a really important part of my memory Ariza's our state Cup was fun my team is very competitive I mean we had a lot of competition as well but I can't remember how many we want maybe nine I think is what we counted with with our team which between it's so much fun that was always like the big goal at the end is Wednesday Cup go to regionals and go to Nationals and we always fell short going to Nationals so it still hurts today to even talk about but I had so much fun and in those tournaments and my team was what made it even ten times better to be a part of I get to play now in front of huge crowds and with all this spotlight and attention and I don't think I'll ever have that feeling that I did going through my you 14 national championship I remember winning state Cup I can tell you how I scored what the score was I remember going to Hawaii that was our regionals Region four and I remember that national championship and I think that it stays with me so because it was about camaraderie it was about growing and learning who we were and you know making these lifelong bonds [Applause] it was 1935 the year that Elvis and Sandy Koufax it was a year of many firsts including the first NFL draft the first Monopoly board game went on sale Social Security began and Babe Ruth hit his last home run in addition to these milestones the National Junior Challenge Cup was founded in 1935 offering the youthful competition for young men in the United States the cup was later named the James P McGuire cup after the late u.s. soccer president who himself was quite a standout in his earlier days winning the US Open Cup in 1929 McGuire would lead US soccer and earn an international reputation as an excellent leader the GEMA quiet cup was started 1935 it was the only cup that the United States Soccer Federation had for youth players and it was a very good competition and I can tell you I mean it was the highlight of my soccer career to be a champion in 1954 this storied Cup now the oldest trophy in youth sport it has a history as a meaning I think as tradition I think it's extremely important for our competitions for all these groups that kind of emulates the mother water cup one in the McGuire Cup is huge just because all that history that comes along with the oldest trophy and youth sports period that's really big for us this tournament it's great competition I mean you just have to work all these teams are belong here all these teams work together so the competition was fantastic and start to finish and when you get to play in a facility like this it makes it even more worthwhile Chopin in six and a half hours to get here we sacrifice a lot time and like our summer so I really think that if we keep with that we'll be on pace for a great time of Nationals an overall great performance came out in the second half was able to close it out and get that regional victory that we were that we wanted benefits this level huge the college exposures seconds of none for these guys are all able to get recruited and achieve the goals that they want to and they set out to actually sign up to play club sports and make a team they're able to get those opportunities I think having something to play for there's a real benefit to these goals not just showcases it's competition everyone wants to win that you play competitive sports because you want to win well this is the top league in the country all the best teams the best competition and that's what you want for your kids you know you wanted to work hard and achieve success against the best so it should be exciting boy they were tough they're they they were a tough team and they had a lot of speed and so we weren't ready for that and they kept fighting and kept fighting and kept fighting we made a few mistakes in the back and then they came back and tied it up you know with seven eight minutes left in the game but it was it was a battle there it's very strong competitive team it's a sweet victory because they really deserve it the girls were tired they were they were weak and they dug really deep they really did they really really fought for it everyone wants it so bad that we all get better from each other no matter the winner the last we all want it the best feeling I've dreamed about this for a long time it's so exciting to be here very tough game we had to go into extra time to decide the the champion and our boys took it to the end and we're able to come out with a victory today it's just an amazing feeling knowing yeah you you scored the winning goal for the team you you worked so hard for this we all deserve this regionals is is where you'll find the best state champions come in and they give you a run for your money I think soccer and a hole is a creates a family the bake sales car washes the raising of money it brings all of us together and we are one and on to Nationals you u.s. youth soccer has impacted my life by taking over I mean it's been a very good experience a lot of like life skills and lessons and how to take on certain things and it's really made a big impact hey everybody here was amazing wait again some amazing girls and I think it was awesome it's really great to see by team like pull together to really work hard to be on a regional champions amazing that's once-in-a-lifetime type of opportunity for these guys I'm really excited for these girls with this confidence to go to Nationals and just test ourselves against great competition my name is Tony McManus we are the oh one lady Lobos rush out of Memphis Tennessee you know we were we were here in the finals last year unfortunately did not did not finish it outs but that gave us a little bit of motivation going into this year it's been crazy and it's just been like really hard because everybody here is so good and everybody is good cuz they win their steak up and so are other ways to get in and so it's been really difficult but we pushed her in we were able to come out on top for us is a little difficult because we work with a lot of underprivileged kids kids I can't afford to really play a big club so we're very small we haven't been around very long which is we put in a lot of work with the kids we picked them up we've been working with these guys you know just try to give them a future and there's something to look forward to get them out the streets put them in a place where they can come and just have fun meet other kids and train hard and just give them a goal what is college or to the next level so we've been very successful at doing that at this level so it's just it's been a great process welcome to Overland Park Kansas and the 14 and under boys you soccer championships presented here at Overland Park Kansas at the Scheels Soccer Complex it will be Libertyville of Illinois against sta of New Jersey for the championship sta coached by Tom Barr a finished number one in their group play and right behind them Libertyville finishing two but both teams won their semifinal of course and now they face off for the second time in this tournament after sta took the first match between the two earlier on under the direction of Mike Wilson I'm Rick Cole today with Cameron hunter and Bryan Galvan as our videographers you may be able to tell it's a little windy today the wind will favour the team moving from left to right that looks to be sta here as we line up the players on the near touch line as they go out to the field we will tell you a little bit about each of these teams as we mentioned sta the number one team in their group Tom Bray who is a native of England and now lives in New Jersey is their head coach and Libertyville out of the northern part of Chicago is coached by Memo Marin is assisted by surgeons molesky and Ramon Marin the assistant on the sta side is John Newman the two teams cement as we said earlier in the tournament and it was sta coming out on top by a score of three to one they will play now for the championship after Libertyville came back to defeat National Union black of Michigan three to two in the semi finals yesterday and in the other semifinal sta and the Raiders football club needed kicks from the mark to separate the two sides notable though it wasn't just your normal shootout it went 14 rounds before sta was able to advance to this final game so it was a remarkable day yesterday for STA and now they will battle not only Libertyville but this wind which is gusting I would guess now with to about 20-25 miles an hour it was supposed to be a windy day in the Kansas City area it is and it's also a very pleasant day with the temperatures right around 80 to 85 degrees the high today should be around 90 but no humidity which is very rare in Kansas City and we'll talk about that here in the final weekend of July sta will indeed be on the left side of the field and go left to right the wind has changed directions it feels once again and it's blowing maybe a little bit more cross of the field from the far site to the near side but it was favoring the team left to right in our last match and most likely will favor sta here as we began this match Libertyville in the gray and orange will be handed into that wind for the most part as they look to have the first possession these will leave 35 minute halves and then if we are tied at the end of regulation we would have 10 minutes of overtime to 10-minute periods followed by a shootout he if necessary at that point but that's all in the future right now we're ready to start this match with our referee Alejo Kalume a getting things ready to go he is assisted by Cory Beecher and Jacob urban and the fourth official is Kyle Armstrong and there's the signal and here we go with liberty bill moving into the wind and attacking that wind immediately 14 and under national championship underway delivery bill the gray team and turned over there comes Sta and then right back to Liberty villain both teams taking short possessions here early on and now foul on a high foot there and it will be sta to restart sta goalkeeper is Brian even in the opposite posts Alex Lopez at SDA on the attack right back to Libertyville Liberty build in 1974 elites 1974 signifying the year the club was formed spot that ball up several yards and toward the middle it looks like or maybe it's a funkin ball evidently here early in the game both teams have kicked the ball so hard they've worn a hole in it let me switch it out so we have a new ball in play and here we go again 35 minute halves at the 14 and under level pretty good drive into the wind Liberty Bell possessing Garcia again on the far side looking forward trying to find a little one so and Alonso hasn't knocked out of bounds we'll make the throw in here that one comes loose and they're trying to clear it out and eventually knocked off the body of the Libertyville Liberty Hill player that was there and here comes the goal kick by Lopez excuse me you can see evens a pretty big kid for a 14 and under player good sized st a controlling the goal kick and being patient you saw in the first game that we did her on this field in this wind that the team that kept the ball low and didn't challenge the wind or use the wind in that case was the victorious team we'll see if both teams kind of follow through with that idea Giacomo's is a one of a pair of twins giovanni Zuzu's his twin brother como is 14 giovanni 30 Libertyville attacking garcia giving it off rohan go polym and it's knocked away from him they will fetch the ball and put it back into play here is where just started in the first half and see that red corner flag and how it's really whipping around that hit her hangs in the air forever and finally it's Ethan that grabs it sta in control early on here first half a little bit of a slip there and then Libertyville falls on top as Sereno fell on top of the man who it slipped and it's called for the foul Holly I know moving forward giving it up and then getting it right back number twelve is Collins and Nicholas was able to get it to the middle only to have Libertyville knock it away good challenge there ever by Farber of and sta comes back within at midfield and they'll play it right back to Ethan who's been fairly busy helping out his defensive backs good ball up the sideline and a nice touch just off the mark a little bit right idea just didn't go in the right place Alek Laroy was able to knock it away there comes sta again though through the double-team in the drive and inside the 18 but the foul will be several yards outside the 18 so the foul by Libertyville gives sta a chance to restart here just a bit off the left side and several yards outside the 18 unlimited substitutions at the 14 and under level so players can come and go and we'll try to keep you up to date as best we can right now for sta we've got a sub coming in and that's gonna be Valentino delle Grazia so Telegraaf SIA is in number four in white and here's the restart for Sta and just hi and white so nothing comes of that foul outside the 18 and it will be Alex Lopez booting it away see how difficult the time he has with the wind that is favoring sta at the moment Libertyville up the sideline challenged and knocked away as Libertyville will turn it over up the sideline that time was number 25 Chesky oh and a good run but couldn't sustain it and then along the sideline knocked off his dribble was number 13 and that's Zachary Holt came off Holt and so throwing it in Sta Maybury to be able trying to turn it into something positive good job with the body by Miguel Garcia and once again sta will have the throw-in long look here is a jockey for position everybody bill takes it away and challenge on the sidelines and possession belongs to whom will belong sta sta is from New Jersey Libertyville Illinois north of Chicago meeting here for the 14 another championship at Scheels Sports Complex in Overland Park Kansas Overland Park is the host of this event this week and again they've been blessed by some very nice weather for the end of July and the Midwest and Kansas City area in particular known for its humidity this time of year but at a very pleasant week and today is no exception with the possible exception of the wind but the humidity is certainly been livable if not pleasant across midfield Peter bought and Johnny and I swing it all the way to the other side where it's picked up by Shawn and that liberty bill trying to mount a counter-attack and possession interrupted a touch or the young man just into the game delle grazie a long ball down and a little bit too far sta taking over one more time sta has done a nice job switching sides of the field they've gotten your side to far side several times here early in the match controlling the tempo chasing is Dylan Frey and that one ends up in the hands of the keeper so no score here is we are in the first half on the far side Garcia nice ricochet and a chance for Libertyville and the pressure put on by Alonso but knocked and clear to buy sta but liberty bill will have to throw in deep in their offensive end a little on so to throw it in dropping it short it's knocked away from Andrew Phillips and the wind continues to how old here at about 25 miles an hour we start after a penalty and again we'll take it down that far side after Campbell Mart and take it away a now tied up but no foul on no change of possession sta driving a deep delle grazie trying his luck near the sideline triple-teamed centered and again trying to switch it over fortunate deflection for SDA a but cleared out by the Libertyville see it has been active on that far sideline March by Fay and out of Bounce and sta again with possession if he was falling for della Garcia he was way off the mark there with that pass or perhaps Collins say was just looking deep trying to open something good would happen but they turned it over and Libertyville shuts it up and again Liberty being patient possessing and now the ball released and just a bit long is it is taking on a short hop by Ryan Yvonne Liberty Villa has been very aggressive going against the wind Ethan has been busy in side the pipes for sta sta making a run Johan trying to give it and it's it has intercepted Serrano for a Liberty bill goes deep and it's deflected by sta and so again another throw in comes at the 18 yard line extended on the far side and move it back a little bit and look at that's a nice try on the sidelines defensively couldn't keep it alive and now ball deep been a long roller that just goes wide so not on goal but an opportunity for Libertyville and we remain scoreless there are games going on on adjacent fields you may hear a whistle or the crowd reaction to games that are not on this field there are a number championship games going on this is the 14-under boys lots of room at midfield as Liberty Village not challenging Collins that all the time in the world to find somebody and there's Collins again in the circle throw in for Collins say it's spell TIA he had to go near that adjacent field to retrieve the ball match started look great o'clock a.m. they didn't give any water announcement weather dude yes and again it's sta with possession back on the far side we apologize for our technical problems there's a header that goes off the mark della Grazia chasing it down and across the touchline and it looks like we have a sub ready to come in for a Liberty bill they will bring the sub in here and it will be Libertyville Saul Saul Valadez who comes in sigh well viola des is now onto the pitch I mean while we wait for the throw in deep in the SGA offensive end to buy sta some holidays in throw in coming in a scoreless first half try to clear it out but not a very good clearance and now Libertyville scrambles to get the ball outside the 18 there's a long shot that hangs in the air and controlled as it turns out rather easily by Alex Lopez second save for Lopez on target but not a lot of pace to it there's pace and there's accuracy and that one had one but not the other Alonso at the other end flipping the field quickly and still keeping it alive and they're gonna say a goal kick so a line so loses it on the goal line and once again even the goalkeeper will kick it away two saves by Lopez none yet by E pin officially officially and that ball knocked toward the midfield mark but we're all dead there's a penalty there and it'll be SGA the benefits from that again the far side this Sta team looks a little bit left-handed if you will they enjoyed going up that far sideline offensively now we'll go back and play defense says the Libertyville forces the turnover memo Marin is the Libertyville head coach and Tom Bray is the head coach for sta now there was a penalty and so the restart comes in the defensive end for a Liberty available can't connect there Johan was the one that started it authentically and now the Greece ahead say sending it but blocked across the sidelines and say is gonna hold on and let his team get back into position a little bit and knocked away by Libertyville so we'll do it again right there from the same spot say maybe games about ten yards by the time he makes the throw-in all down the left sideline and trying to catch up with it is solid ends but sta again is awarded the possession lots of play in the midfield area not much really offensively from either team so far this is Garcia gopalam through the traffic and that long ball we'll take an easy bounce for even so again not much offense from either team right at the moment that Chesky took that shot but it turned out to be a floater the died in the wind and there comes sta across midfield turned over Libertyville and they give it right back our midfield referee is Alejo colonnades from Miami chants for SBA broke it up still in possession and finally cleared out of there nice drive though by SD by sta Daniel Farber off made the drive and the deep ball by Libertyville is corralled by sta subs on deck here at the next stage a couple of Libertyville players and a single player looks like for Sta giacomo Sousa couldn't make anything happen on the far side it sent deep and corralled their Charles taliano was the man who finally settled it now they're gonna call a timeout for an injury back way on the other side of the field there is a Libertyville player that is sitting on the turf and his hip area has suffered an injury meanwhile the subs are getting ready to come on and they may bring the trainer's out and let the kids get a drink here they're gonna bring the coaches out first and they'll give a chance for the subs to possibly get in they'll give the players that remain on the pitch a chance to get a drink as they attend to the injury yeah at a scoreless first half so we talked about the water breaks this is an unofficial water break as it turns out the trainer's will come to attend knocked about the first time in this week's play that these two teams faced each other it came in the group play with SDA winning three to nothing they got goals from say crucial and taliano in the match I guess Lombardo was the only one that's scored for Libertyville in the three to one win by sta in pool play we also were talking about sta and their 14 round penalty kick win in the semi finals Daniel fiber rod made the last kick for sta and then Ryan even made a big save and that's how sta got into the final that must have been something and those that were here that saw it well one lady said it was nerve-racking which I can understand that was against the Raiders football club in the semi-finals haven't been able to see the number of the player and again both teams wearing numbers on the back exclusively so we'll pick up the number of the injured player who's given a ride off the turf and meanwhile we are set to resume play just exactly where we were on the field they're trying to determine a believe it was back in the sta n comes Lombardo onto the field a young man that had the goal in the semi-final for Libertyville he's wearing number 11 today and there were a couple of other subs as we mentioned we'll try to get them as we go through the course of play liberty bill is awarded possession but they'll give it right back st a in a supporting gesture and we are underway Colin say up the sideline and knocked off the feet of the Liberty Bell defender Tyler wits say working the sideline intercepted by Garcia guy see ya playing it back Franck a knockin it long but against the wind and go very far say against Garcia's a nice matchup far side farber of three players around him defensively tough to get through that and Barbara visit empted a pass deflected so no score as we are toward the latter part of the first half here sta to throw it in and sta with a chance offensively working the far side Dylan Fay I'll have to reset again say has been active on the near side volleyed away and I think Alexander kind of all is just picked a foul he was kind of beggin for one II had gone after the ball handler him by the shoulders there was no change of possession but on the change of possession second set of contact they got him that time and Libertyville restarts good low drive into the wind a challenge but defensively SDA comes up with a nice play liberty bill quickly back on the attack turned and crossed trying to get it out of there now liberty bill with a chance but again SDA opportunistic and able to clear it for the moment deep ball into the wind and right to the foot of the Libertyville player and then they leave past just a little bit too far and able to smother it was the gold keeper even so give even a save there on that ball that was on frame whether it was intended as a pass or a shot it was headed into the goal even gets his first to save and there's a foul against Libertyville and give SDA a chance to restart peter bot and johnny over the ball and bot and johnny waiting now will give way it looks like and bring in another defender to restart here and that's Charles taliano Holly I know serves it up pretty nicely trying to find the head of number 12 inside Nicholas Collins Collins maybe or it's the defender rather that's shaken up a little bit and so it looks like we'll have another injury timeout well when you're in the air like that so many things can happen contact wise and they will take a moment to attend to the injured player so I'm not sure who the injured player from Libertyville was he's on the sidelines but he's not turned around yet not too serious of an injury and so we'll play on and here comes the restart by the defensive back and now I can see who it is it's Alec Laroy who was injured several minutes ago Alec Laroy meanwhile SGA is going to bring another man off the bench it'll be Zachary Prue so again unlimited substitutions you can sub in and out as much as you want and coming out of the matches Valentino delle grazie oh he came in after a few minutes so fruits eolian and dalla Grazia outs for sta no score in the first half and the wind continues to moan sta on the attack they've got a man-in-the-middle in fact two in the shot knocked down possible handball as the shot deflected but no call Carnival took the shot and it's something up high and after fowl the restart by Libertyville SDA wants to get a sub into the game here and so they will delay play and get the twin brother Giovanni who's izi into the game so Giovanni is in and also about ready to enter the game is check and see Cole Faro is the other player he's wearing number 10 so Faro 10 and Giovanni it was at number 30 both end of the match for sta Libertyville with the respect 14 and under championship game all struck deep in Libertyville on the attack here they've got numbers and there's the shot that's just wide so they had the opportunity to take a long shot and they did so but the strike by Miguel Garcia is off the mark Brian Ethan to take the gold kick here in the first half shots on goal unofficially – for Libertyville and now one for sta those are shots on goal and Phillips on the far side for Libertyville gives it back now look and Alonso's pass to the box st a good defensively but another chance for Libertyville here 25 is is that Chesky and zack Chesky working it knocked right back toward him he hasn't given up yet and now SVA knocking it across the end line nope they're gonna say it's offices at cesky and a goal kick so both teams playing defensively in this match so far even try to pick out a target and finally making that lateral goal kick and now maybe in a little bit of trouble good pressure by the Libertyville and its midfield to turn know where to go and Libertyville advances it back across the line trying to trap it is the young man just into the game cold Pharaoh and now Pharaoh excuse me that Pharaoh that is number three that hits the deck Alexandre carnival control of the ball in the air fire broth has a chance but can't contain it Garcia in the middle of the field swings it wide Libertyville continues to attack and there is the whistle and evidently that is the end of the first half so the first 35 minutes of play are over and we have no score in very few shots only three shots on goal unofficially between the two teams as they have reached the halfway point here in the 14 and under championship game our director is Mike Wilson our videographers are Brian Galvin and Cameron hunter and I'm Rick Cole back in a moment for the second half of the 14 and under us youth soccer national championships from the shield Soccer Complex in Overland Park Kansas it was 1935 the year that Elvis and Sandy Koufax it was a year of many firsts including the first NFL draft the first Monopoly board game went on sale Social Security began and Babe Ruth hit his last home in addition to these milestones the National Junior Challenge Cup was founded in 1935 offering the youth competition for young men in the United States the cup was later named the James P McGuire regional victory that we were that we wanted benefits this lever huge the college exposures second-to-none for these guys are all able to get recruited and achieve the goals that they want to and they amazing feeling knowing yeah you you scored the winning goal for the team you you work so hard for this we all deserve this regionals is is where you'll find the best state champions come in and they give you a run for your money I think soccer and the whole is a creates a family the bake sales car washes the raising of money it brings all of us together and we are one and on to Nationals you u.s. youth soccer has impacted my life by taking over I mean it's been a very good experience a lot of like life skills and lessons and how to take on certain things and it's really made a big impact hey everybody here was amazing way to getting some amazing girls and I think it was awesome it's really great to see by team like pulled together it really Cameron Hunter and Brian Galvin are videographers this morning from Overland Park Kansas we're all under the direction of Mike Wilson and we're ready for the second half of the championship matchup in the 14 and under boys between sta of New Jersey and a Libertyville of Illinois I am Rick Cole and our second half on this windy Sunday morning in the Midwest sees both teams in a scoreless duel here after the first 35 minutes and now it will be wind advantage for the most part to Libertyville Libertyville is very aggressive at the offensive end but doesn't have a lot to show for it they were only credited unofficially with one shot on goal in the first half meanwhile a couple of shots on goal for sta with the wind at their back turned away by Alex Lopez and Ryan deepened the goalkeeper for sta again with that one save on a shot on goal so we'll see what sta does now against the wind and Libertyville conversely going with the wind for the most part it is blowing across the field a little bit now but it is a strong wind up to 25 miles an hour they were suggesting today that gusts could be as high as 30 to 35 and we may well reach that by the time this game is over the referee is Alejo cooling a Corey Beecher and Jacob urban are working the sidelines as the assistants and they're all waiting for the fourth we referee Kyle Armstrong to set things up you can I'm sure hear the wind whipping through the tower from which we work Sta moving from right to left here in the second half and the first possession Corin Chohan on the dribble switching it to the far side that's Colin say who does a lot of the ball handling out of the defensive end and saves pass knocked away dangerously loose and cleared away by Libertyville say back to work Colin along that sideline will retain possession on a throw-in as again Liberty Bell is able to knock it out so sta going right to work here on their first possession of the second half looking on the edge of the box and now Liberty male will have possession back sta looking on the side of the box for Daniel Farber off who is a big target down there he's got good size along the sideline good catch along the side by one of the dad's it looks like there's an example of a ball that's really affected by the wind that's shorten ball that was curving anyway and hung up in the wind Libertyville picking it off and trying to get an advantage here as zachary Holtz along the far side and there's a nice save by the goalkeeper even so even extending himself makes his second save of the bats and we remain scoreless say working the sidelines and there's a penalty on the change of possession and a sporting slap of the hands between the two players they fouled and sta resumes possession they try to go all the way across to say in to that win and that didn't work out very well a handball looks like and sta comes the other way say again looking finding Farber I've fiber of shaking loose and a good a little touch to clear the ball and now a whistle and I'm gonna call her Farber off for pushing off long ball down here's where the wind will really push that thing and it does no chance for Zachary Holt to catch up with it that ball may roll all the way north to Kearney they'll take a moment to retrieve the loose soccer ball and then play will continue talking at halftime in it appears the rule of the 14 and under 35 minute half is that when there's an injury or a stoppage of some kind they stop the game clock which is not available to us in the booth you can see it on your screen but that's an unofficial clock so there's no stoppage time they actually take it during the play by stopping the time on the field is what we're told sta to throw in say able to get it into Theobald kyle handling it and again it looks like an sta throw in shots on goal even now – a piece with that shot against EEP in a moment ago by a sta unofficially of course slowly but steadily sta working the ball up the sideline I'm trying to shake somebody loose deep and this time they are looking on the near side to Carnival and again another throwing and one more time possession to sta crossover move by Johan and the turnover could pass up and the drive an attempt by Garcia 18 yards out and one to nothing how about that by Garcia who hits it from 18 yards out one to nothing Libertyville a beautiful pass to midfield got it started and then splitting the defenders Garcia turns loose the shot with just enough on it to get past Alex Lopez and if one to nothing Libertyville keep in mind sta-1 the group matchup between these two teams three to one they were up to – nothing before Libertyville scored in that matchup and eventually won it three two one but now SVA down by a goal and the team from New Jersey will try to regroup boy what a beautiful drive though by Garcia pass over the top harbor I've trying to close in on it but nothing doing there roaming Lynch defensively plays at once so now a second time say on the far side collins trying to control and does 18 is taliano and 19 is theable kyle Theobald and knocked away Zachary Holt to his foots and turned over no change of possession and now they do who call a foul and so Libertyville will have possession they're gonna take a moment to make sure everybody settles down here a little bit and the restart will be Liberty Village after the goal by Miguel Garcia has him up one to nothing again looking at the flags in the corner looks as if the wind is again changed a little bit now really favoring Liberty villain their backs it's been across the field a little bit more than we saw earlier today now let's change back he Zachary Holtz on the loose ball for Libertyville a good job marking down on the end line and then all still keeping it alive and now finally it looks like it's across the goal line they're gonna call a foul down in the corner it looks like Libertyville will work its way down toward that goal line where eventually that's where the foul was called so it looks as if it'll be a little bit shorter version of a corner kick we haven't seen many corners in this match meanwhile into the match for sta comes Valentino dela Grazia we saw him early in the match he's wearing number four and again there will take time to make sure everybody is in their proper position for this long restart everybody seems to be in the right spot and now it's up to the restart kick bending it and there's that wind coming into play I'm sure is it bent a little bit too far it ends up behind the goal so one-nothing Libertyville on the Miguel Garcia goal and to knock it out is Ryan e pom battling for possession sticking his nose in there number three Alex Carnaval Carnaval still battling he is certainly not the biggest on the field but he is competing for that ball every time it's within reach nowhere to go there for say the STA retains possession Chohan along the side as it knocked out and Libertyville has a sub ready to go or close to it not quite ready apparently Johan loses it across the touchline and now let's see if they'll allow the stuff to come in and they will so we'll pick up who the player coming in is and it's August 1 Bartow number 11 who is in checking out for the moment Zachary a halt already build with the throw in 14 and under national championship here in Kansas City Overland Park technically Kansas side of Kansas City videographers are Cameron Hunter and Bryan Galvan and Mike Wilson the forgotten beach boy brother is our director it was Brian Dennis and Mike that all got together to make the Beach Boys back in the 60s I'm sure keep on the goalkeeper and he's under a little stress right now is Libertyville comes back to challenge him a good job by heap on clearing it out I'm sure that was a little bit of a scary moment for epod looking up and seeing none of his teammates were within reach and having to dodge those two defenders that were coming at him hard here's a long shot but off the mark and it remains one to nothing Libertyville Nicholas Collins might have got his toe caught up a little bit in the plastic turf subs coming giacomo Zizza for SGA will be in along with Patrick Campbell this is a wearing number 14 and Campbell is wearing number 11 long ball down and shielded well by sta it'll be possession to sta well Garcia moments ago took a pass from deep in the defensive end he gathered it about midfield to right square in the middle of the field the dribble split a pair of defenders and then unleashed an 18 yard shot that makes it one to nothing Libertyville shots on goal now 3 for Libertyville and 2 for sta so we haven't had a lot of offense settled evil trying to bring it to the midfield area after it was knocked out of the air by Rohan gopalam and possession to Libertyville losing his balance and perhaps pushed a little bit Libertyville will benefit from an sta foul at midfield and have the restart remember SDA went through that 14 round shootout yesterday and not knowing the team well I can't judge for sure but you have to wonder about the that's the emotional investment they may throughout that match yesterday to get to the finals they're down one to nothing here against the Libertyville a team they defeated three to one earlier in the tournament sta defends clears it out but across the touchline in a throw-in coming as another sub waits here for liberty Ville Libertyville is from the north side of Chicago Libertyville FC 1974 elites their entire title and sta out of the New Jersey area of the country battle here for the 14 another national championship at shield Soccer Complex slowly as sub is going to be made here as odd to the pitch comes number 46 you don't see a lot of 46 in soccer Ryan moats is in and moats jugs across the pitch and we're ready for play to resume labor de Ville is in gray there's a serve into the box and that big tall athlete Ryan Eaton goes high to corral it again with the wind blowing you never know when that ball is in the air and Ethan has handled business for the most part well except for the drive against like when Garcia made the drive against him see it chose to go to his left and even just couldn't quite reach it low shot into the lower 90s there's nothing Ethan can do he couldn't get there sta trying to mount a comeback here barber off in the middle of it all now it's della Grazia and on the far side the attack and the ball knocked away it'll be a corner kick for sta after a good challenge taliano looks like he'll be the one to take the corner with the wind at his back well when you cross the field and generally toward the Libertyville head to the field pretty good serve header and cleared away for the moment still loose dangerous moment for Libertyville at sta maintains possession still in play Campbell just into the match couldn't hold it liberty bill with the counter walked away good job there by stas defender on the play Nicholas Collins was the one that knocked it away then retained possession barber Rob is the target and then the ball comes loose and finally corralled by Alex Lopez so Lopez had to deal with a scramble in front of him a moment ago and then that ball that's squirted it away from him before he was able to dive on top of it Libertyville up one to nothing looking for more hey knocks it away now the ball loose and tuna nothing how fast that happened August Lombardo with the ball coming loose was able to turn and fire and make it 2 to nothing Libertyville so Lombardo who had a goal earlier in the tournament is able to score again here in the finals and that is a big goal to make it to nil and now sta really hit a hole here Lombardo's second goal of the tournament and he has scored both of them against sta se now as switched sides of the field and he works on the near side advances but stripped away and a whistle here little stop play it looks like we have another sub waiting and in the end it'll be a Liberty Bell player who's waiting to check in foul has been called down there on the side now the sub has been withdraw and it looks like and in any case they'll take time to restart well SDA needs a goal to get right back in this match and if they can mount something here it would certainly change the momentum as it has been all Libertyville in the second half with goals by Lombardo and earlier by Garcia that ball nearly knocked in had a chance at least for dela Gracia SGA no quits there's a bending shot trouble there and Libertyville trying to clear it off after the collision with the keeper hope everybody's okay it looks like they are and I think we have an offside on that play is the call so the restart will be Liberty bills here deep in their own end two-nothing Libertyville Lombardo Garcia goals for Libertyville now the Illinois team will have a chance to start in your mid field after the foul getting ready to enter the match another Libertyville player he was up a moment ago and let's see who that is Zachary Holt back in so Holt is in as Libertyville makes the substitution and they get ready to restart just across the midfield stripe off the mark a little bit and kept in play by even or not say keeping we'll have the gold kick even is that a tendency to make his goal kick short ones and let his defenders midfielders bring the ball forward especially in this wind distribution such a big part of the goalies game knocked away Libertyville a chance there but say able to retain into the wind that long ball hangs in the air forever doesn't it and let's see which way this goes corner kick so another opportunity for sta set-piece coming up for them SDA will make a sub and bring Chohan back into the game quran Chohan will be entering and out is Patrick Campbell for sta sta again a goal would to change things around a little bit but time is growing short for the team from Jersey loose and collected Lopez is there good feed to the side let's see what they do with it try to set something up as Alonzo and pick clean inside the 18 what a nice play there let's say again who's been impressive and he slides he lost possession across the sidelines but boy he's been great on defense and handling the ball Roman Lynch to throw it in for Libertyville shots on goal three for Libertyville and two for SDA and officially say again with contact there and although he's a small guy he put a pretty good lick there on number 13 Zachary halts and also Kay but say is charged with a foul I believe so say picks up the foul against Holtz Libertyville will not push everybody up they've got defenders back with the 2 to nothing lead it's knocking right to the keeper just about in just a hair high on a direct strike it would have been three to nothing yes I will vallah des with that hard strike again eeping keeps it short and a deflection that's dangerous but able to handle it is even Chohan say and saying the whole match up again say this time we'll throw it in again no stoppage time they've kept the stoppage time on the field by stopping your clock during any interruptions in play here's a chance for a liberty bill to put a third goal on the board good ball through but they're gonna call it outside I believe or is it going to be on a slide here it's like a yellow card will be presented as well as the sba player is down and let's see who it is that's is gingerly standing that is Peter bot and Johnny who will get up slowly the foul will be against Libertyville and the bottom Johnny looks like we'll take the Rica Thomas Bray and sta they have played well through this tournament but they're down two goals to Libertyville Liberty of ills head coach memo Marin and the team from Illinois leaves by two goals lates in the match one early in the half by Garcia and a beautiful drive down the middle and then a goal by Lombardo from about seven yards out maybe eight or good play by se-r by the wing there to keep that ball in STA has to be quick here they have to have a sense of urgency with time running out they have not been able to mount much offense and again our referee Alejo kula may take some time to make sure this is set up correctly but that is just to the advantage of Libertyville Giovanni is his ax is in for sta want to set this play up again one goal would make a big difference right now Liberty Vale firmly in control at 2 nil deep a chance spit right to the chest the goalkeeper and for Alex Lopez his third to save as ta it again a chance hey Toph Libertyville have numbers if they get through midfield garcia looking and the long boots is off the mark Liberty Mills shooting it will now from long distance with a 2 to nothing lead and for that ball rolling outside the field of play that's going to eat up some time Ryan Ethan hustling after it to get it back into play even trying to again pick a target st a possession 50/50 ball ends up being won by sta here's della Grazia in the box and now a chance for fair brav and a whistle will be against SDA sub waiting on the sidelines for Libertyville in fact now to have reported see if they're able to get them in of course this is doing nothing except helping the time for Libertyville and unlimited substitutions Lombardo who is out momentarily is back in he has one of the two goals and the deep ball and it's loose Lombardo looks for his second goal and just off the mark the challenge by Ethan made him have to go high and he just took it off the side of his foot give a moment for Lombardo to get up they're gonna have to bring out the coaches it looks like and time has stopped here well we have a moment let's again thank our crew here the production crew Mike Wilson is in charge of Mike is our director with Brian Galvin and Cameron hunter on our cameras this morning again this is going to serve as a little bit of a water break we're really close to the end of time and so they are asking the referee how much time there is left and I saying I think he said four minutes to the players time has kept on the field and our time that you're saying is unofficial and again during this break to attend to the injured player all that seems to taking advantage to get some water and you finish out this game strong 14 and under national championship the United States youth soccer national championships here in Kansas City this week it's run a lot of attention locally they're going to bring Lombardo off the field subs coming on for Libertyville include number 13 and that is Zachary Hulk who's been in and out several times and also number 31 that's Tyler wits who we've seen a couple of times even again will restart and again if I read the fourth referee correctly we have about four minutes remaining good drive but it's knocked away in a good defensive play by the hustling defender bot and Johnny who was shaken up at one point in this match but Peter didn't give up on that play Libertyville will have the corner kick last time they had a kick from this area on a restart they really didn't account for the window well and set it behind the net let's see if they've learned from that and how they handle this Allen Alonso to take the corner look at that flag over there in the corner it shows you how hard it's blowing that's a pretty good setup and a chance and it's in so Libertyville adds another goal Zachary Holt gets the goal as it comes loose and Holt turns and fires at point-blank range to make it three to nothing so Libertyville puts an exclamation mark on what appears to be a national championship we run here and coming back against the team that defeated them in group play the Gold's by Garcia Lombardo and now Holtz to make it three to nothing and it all started with that nice corner kick we talked about learning from the last one that one was right inside the box and ended up although not cleanly played off the corner it was ended up being a goal and it was dropped scuffled 4 and then scored and Tom Bray the head coach of sta conferring with the forth rest now referee and kind of hanging his head he knows there's not much time remaining meanwhile Lopez will restarts I appreciate you being with us today on this presentation of the 14 and under national championships how satisfying for a liberty bill with this big to win this after being defeated three to one by sta earlier in the week they put three on the board against sta themselves now there's another opportunity but a good play back for the moment and battling for it is Garcia who had the first goal sta comes out of there on SDA has run out of time and you're national champions at the 14 and under level are the Libertyville FC 1974 elite team the team from north of Chicago has defeated SGA for the championship so Libertyville has won it and they have done it behind three goals in the second half with the wind at their back Garcia took a nice pass at midfield and drove the length of the field firing from 18 yards out for the first goal and then it was Lombardo from about 8 yards out in front point-blank to make it 2 to nothing and finally Zachary Holt after a corner kick dropped inside the penalty box turned to his left and fired it past the goalkeeper Ryan even and it ends up three to nothing with Libertyville being your national champions at the US youth soccer tournament congratulations to memo Marin and his team the assistant coach Sergey selects key and Ramon Marin and congratulations note also to SVA you played a fine tournament they were the number one team out of the pool they won their semifinal remember on 14 rounds of shootout but they fall here to Libertyville by a three mil score and it is Libertyville who will take that championship back to the Chicago area as they win it here in Kansas City thanks to our crew Mike Wilson has been our director with Cameron hunter and Bryan Galvan on cameras I am Rick Cole and you've been watching the 14 and under national championship from the Scheels Sports Complex in Overland Park Kansas you
