Adding Calf Skin Limb Pads to the Fred Eichler Recurve Bow

all right well like so many times I forgot a step and before we get the tuning this is something that we need to do I'm going to pair the bow back down we've already got everything in place we got the nock plunk and it's real important when you tear it down not to let the string leave the limbs so that it doesn't lose any twist and we keep the bracelet and everything like we got it so this is where we want to want to start with when we tune it but what we got to do is I got to tear it back down so that I can put these limb pads on that they provide with the bow so I got to tear it back down so I can get up underneath that string that's so tight so this is how you tear it down we're gonna leave the bottom limb connected you same way as you string it put your little cleat out towards the front and then just relieve the pressure and let it slide down the limb just like that okay and I'm not gonna take this off because all I'm gonna do is put these little cleats on get my alcohol because we want it to stick I'll clean that off and then we'll do the other side all right let's go clean the other side all right making sure we don't take that off all right don't want to lose any twists more calf hair actual calf hair you can actually see the fur but we're just going to put that they provide this there and what that does is it gives a firm place for when you shoot the bow it gives a good soft place for that string to land in that string groove so that it helps as far as quietness and we know quietness kills especially in the archery world you want to make sure when you put this on that it's that nothing lays on the outside of the limb because it will just snag on stuff if you're walking and you're having a hard time getting these things off no fingernails well here we go tada okay now we're gonna line this up you just want it inside the limb and then all the way in the string groove and I like to leave this string groove that got a little bit on the end here it's still exposed so that I can see that the string is always tracking so it the string groove is at the top and the bottom so it appears underneath that pad and then before we take your mark mark and work it down in there good all right now let's do the other side all right let's do this other side still got a little bit exposed right there this is my official masher Sharpie is more than just a magic marker it's a archery recurve limbs hip pad masher also but the folks at Sharpie didn't even know that all right there we go we got that in place now we're going to put the bow back together and then we're ready to begin tuning
