Build A Lightweight, Cheap, Sturdy DIY Gate that looks and works great.

ourselves a gate here it needs to be
built tired of using pallets we do the same thing let me get over here on this
gate more or less a little less industrial version and see how quickly
and get this built up so we measured across 43 inches and we’re gonna put
five feet up that’ll put us just below that grape vice alright now we got that let’s
start. The first thing we’re gonna do over here gotta measure the hardware so
43 inches is our gate opening but the hardware to measure how far it’s gonna
stick up hey gonna measure how far it is gonna stick out and then subtract that
from the 43 inches so I know how wide to build the gate
okay so turned out the gate was gonna be 38 inches wise we cut 38 inch 38 inch
those two pieces that are underneath and then our five-foot top pieces the two
sides that we’re gonna do since we’re doing a quick build and we laid them out
so that we had six inches overlapping on the top here and eight inches on the
bottom that’s just to sort of make it easier to kind of hang it in line with
what we’ve got I hope anyway so we got that now what we’re
gonna do is go ahead and flip the whole deal over and we’re gonna we’re send a cross piece across it and that’s gonna hold it in place and make sure we’re square. so one of detail that I forgot was on that
diagonal piece since we’re gonna be putting
some fairly large hinges on we can’t have the diagonal piece go all the way
where the hinges are it’s not gonna make a flush thanks so we’re gonna actually
stop bikes they’re gonna knock me out of square and then up here we’re just gonna
run it right to the tip of the corner there and we’ll mark it off and cut it
