  1. MY GOD! Watching that woman perform is like attending a Master Class in acting. I've seen the play & heard this monologue a bunch of times but nobody has taken on the role of Rose like Viola did. She deserved every award she received for this movie. I still think "Doubt" is her best work to date BUT this (scene) is a very close second. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ

  2. At 3.35, When Viola starts "well, I've been standing with you", she transforms into a lioness… Wow… I watched that dialogue delivery a thousand times…

  3. Jesus this scene is…. โ€œabysmalโ€ … F.R.I.E.N.D.S reference lol! I remember watching at the movies and I was like whaaaat? Beautiful

  4. So much talk about how great Denzel was in this. Violaโ€™s performance was incredibly underrated. Black women never get enough credit. If a black actor is recognized, it seemingly always is a man.

  5. As a son I could deal with the tough love, mainly cause that's how my old man was. But as hard on us he was, he treated my Mom great. The cheating on mom would be the only thing I'd stand up over

  6. I AM A WHITE MALE & WATCHED THIS MOVIE 3 TIMES AT THE THEATER……. YOU NEVER APPRECIATE THAT MAN WORKING BESIDE YOU UNTIL YOU TAKE A WALK IN HIS PAST

  8. I can happily say my Dad was never a Troy. But his dad (my grandfather), was pretty fucking close…

  9. So, wait… is that the grown-up son whoโ€˜s supposedly closed-homosexual and was supposedly sexually abused by Father Flinn?

  10. We ainโ€˜t talking bout strikes, curve balls and baseball, we talkin bout hard soil, seeds and blossoms!

  11. It pains me to watch this because this character Denzel plays reminds me of my father back in the early 90's, his mellow now that he has grandkids but back then omg he was Mr. Hollier than thou
