primary PA should be fun fast and friendly for every child with physical literacy providing a foundation for healthy lifestyles and lifelong participation in physical activity primary schools force is no longer limited to the traditional sports either our pupils take part in a wide range of different sports and activities it started off actually that children came said we want to have Street Dance Club children were coming to school saying I've been practicing street dancing at home so they came to school said this is what we would like this is what we'd like to take part in so when we initially started the group it was for the gifted and talented only the class is more of a challenge now with the mixture of abilities so they all help each other if they can see anybody struggling on a particular step that they might have done last term with me they'll go over to their friends and help them out so it's not just for gifted and talented children it is inclusive it's easy for everybody and the excitement of the street dancers just grown I mean the challenge for a small school is having two or sometimes three year groups in a class together with the challenges of accessing resources that are off-site but we have a stated ambition to include all of our children in after-school activity and provision as we're a small rural school taking part in competitive sport against other teams and sometimes be a problem so taking part in cluster and school Games events gives us the chance to compete against other skills building teamwork resilience and fair play all the primary schools in the area come together for the mini Olympics to encourage them to be competitive and to really teach the children about those core values persevering learning together and collaborating and trying your best our children have had the opportunity to explore different sports they've never tried before we discovered that we have three amazing runners that have never shown any aptitude for sport when it comes to ball games but suddenly can run they have gained so much confidence from being able to do that the impact that school competition has on our learners is to develop those key attributes of determination resilience Challenge and beating their personal bests for three objective advice on using the primary PE and sport premium effectively just visit the web pages on gov to UK
