Raised Beds and Fencing the Garden

Raised Beds and Fencing the Garden

okay dad's coming I think I'm gonna stick to the garden rodents have probably been the biggest threat to my garden enough with that I've done two things which have completely eliminated my rodent problem which is fantastic first thing I did raised beds I've used a 2 by 8 I noticed that you know rodents and sometimes they've even seen mice and moles out here they'll run along the side of it but they don't like to climb over it especially behind the garden they'll run between the fence and the raised bed but they can't climb up the back of it so that's been a fantastic deterrent obviously it doesn't completely stop them or bunny will just jump over this even saw a raccoon out here once so what I did is I picked up this mesh this is two feet tall this fencing so it's not very tall at all and it's got these very small holes this one comes in a 25 foot roll by 2 feet wide this is a stake a gardening stake I've been using these just to pin the bottom in place what you want to make sure is that it's tight so I'm going to show you how I did this just really quick I use some wire cutters just to snip this out so that actually folds over the raised bed so this is the section of the garden that I can open this up in a moment's notice boom I can get in and out no problem and I leave these little open-ended ones I can hook that in and I can literally fold it right over boom I've locked those in place if you do that with a few of them you will literally lock the whole thing in place which is great the reason why I'm going to put this extra piece of wood at the bottom is because a mouse will literally climb underneath if there are any gaps I'm just using a small drill bit you can use anything like a 1/8 bit or smaller you just want to pre-drill so you don't snap the wood these are just some extra screws I had set them in just like this set your screws in place which means just basically getting the threads to catch that way you won't have to be fussing with it on an angle so there you go you can see the wood isn't cracking it's perfect the pre drilling has worked done keep inroad inside with the raised edge and defense you may be used to seeing me doing renovations what you're not used to seeing me do is gardening so let's start over here Maya let's show them what we've got growing on oh my goodness Maya come on back here there's something ready if you want to try it snow peas look at that little guy you want to eat that I'm just daddy gonna eat it yeah I know I'm sweaty it's okay I get sweaty out here and watch for one of my most recent projects this is a whole new type of reveal okay that's a wrap on City Line all right all right sounds like everybody's tired daddy's gonna do some gardening don't have on the jumping castle Wow let's do it you and your sister get in the middle I'm gonna blow it up bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce boom who's going down the slide with me whoa good job Laila here we go okay dad's coming ah I think I'm gonna stick to the garden I gotta make lunch hey you jump we are doing sesame snow peas did you wear this bo fit purposely because we're going to see bees today whoa Oh is that guy biting my arm no hey thanks for watching if you missed what we did last week it's right here if you want to see what we did next it's right here I suggest you check them both you
