Rooftop goals: Play soccer on roof of Astoria retail store

originally we were looking at spaces in Queens just because Queens as a borough is composed of soccer populations almost top-to-bottom and didn't have a real soccer retail presence the fields and the ability to do a project of this size came out of finding the right space in the right neighborhood with and taking what was a parking lot from a car wash and before that a car dealership and putting putting small-sided soccer fields on it the biggest thing with with playing on enclosed five-a-side pitches is that the the ball never leaves so the ball is almost always in play whereas if you go on Randall's Island and you're playing eleven aside especially as you get up there an age you spend half the time chasing the ball in every direction whereas in here with the boards and the nets everything is enclosed the ball so you can come out here for 40 minutes and have constant non-stop action which is it's much better fitness wise it keeps everybody on the field engaged it pretty much all times it's created a place that we have seven days a week we have a huge variety of youth and adult soccer programming for all ages all abilities and across a few different types of soccer so we have soccer on TV in the cafe we have soccer playing on the field we have the largest retail store in Queens all under all in all in one building we feel that this is a really positive model for what it does for the community it provides a place for kids and adults to play celebrate and enjoy soccer in many different ways and many different facets so we think that this is where we see upper 90 going for the future we'd like to do more projects like this throughout rose
