Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle Range 2

Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle Range 2

alright I'll take that Hickok 45 out here playing with the gunsight scout rifle by Ruger well you notice I didn't seem to be struggling as much as I did on a Mosin Chapter two and there's a couple of different bolt-action rifles neither one my guess is any more accurate than the other it's just that I kind of got zoomed in nowhere to hold and we'll talk more about that let me load a magazine while I'm yakking it actually might not need to one of the things I wanted to show you am i shouting at you and my ears on one thing with the things I wanted to show you is I got a couple new magazines and they are polymer magazines that are now available for for this rifle that's I believe a ten round magazine a nifty little cover on and everything so I could carry that through the swamp whatever I want let's pop that one in there it's a lighter and holds 10 rounds and this one is lighter as well it's a 5 rounder you know for fish especially for hunting if you live in an area where you can carry five rounds only you know if you're hunting during hunting season or whatever and I think that's a quite well no no I mean I shouldn't speak to that because I'm not that knowledgeable about the hunting regulations that sort of thing but I do know in some areas five rounds is the maximum we've got that will just that little pocket here so we have 10 15 rounds here I think we're going to plink with this is a nifty rifle you know that's why it's why you see me with it is my rifle I couldn't send this one back either it's handy I know it's another one of those guns where you're some of you uh maybe come as well okay why do you need a bolt-action rifle with a magazine you know I've got an ar-15 or a ar-10 she sat round that it holds a 20 30 40 round magazine every all those kinds of things but I don't know it's just neat bolt-action good old reliability of a bolt-action gun and he'll do most things that that you need need doing right so let's take a few more shots over there and put the safety on there and my ears on I left that big tall when standing so let's work on him first now let's be missing all right let's get the big gong well it's not too big all right I'm in the zone I better watch what I say let's shoot that swinger down there at 308 knocks it around doesn't it and we do have an orange 2-liter let's see if we can pick him off all right and we have the remnants of a cinder block let's make sure our sites in the right place yeah if you saw the blackout video you know had a little trouble with my site it loosened up on me by the time I got down to the cinder block thought I was in the twilight zone or something frustrating when you know you're on target you can't hit I think halfway pretty much took care of it Wow okay let's go for the red one again nice tell you what sweet gun got one round left I'm going to shoot this bowling pin right here passes right through it almost doesn't even disturb it does it so luckily I have a five round magazine so we'll put that in and do a little our hunting magazine a little two litre hunting all right so I don't think I put a round in I sure did sorry it's late goes right through it oh boy well we have three rounds left think we should shoot them I agree that was on alright I'll tell you what this is gonna might need to put some golf balls over there to shoot at what a sweetie what a sweetie uh you know I struggle sometimes on my chapter twos and it's its site related I'm really no better no worse on most days it's site related I'll have to say not not to make excuses it really is you know what I noticed today I've come to the conclusion because the Sun when we're doing these it's always over there in the West in the afternoon for some reason I noticed that where I live the Sun sets in the west I don't know where it sets you know in your neighborhood but sets in the west where we live and the sun's coming in from that angle got the four-wheelers playing next door and and it does play with the sights a little bit I've noticed over there just the digs and the ruts in the ground that most of the misses on those little targets are on the right side they seem to be on the right high sometimes but on the right and I was holding on the left edge of every one of those hits so I don't think I want to move my sights I just believe it's kind of the light and the sunlight playing with me a little bit and and it's possibly some of the reason for why I get into a missing motor times but I think make better excuses I'll tell you about them this is a neat gun I like it I like these polymer magazines I even like that laminate stock there's just not a lot I don't like about it it's just really well it's not very heavy and it's a good packing around gun I just like it I like to shoot life's good

  1. I love mine I have the xs scout rail with a red dot, 5 round accurate mag, OD green cloth m1 carbine sling

  2. The irony of him wearing a Springfield Armory hat while shooting this Ruger, as I am currently trying to decide between this and an M1A.

  3. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

  4. I love how at the start of the video a block is missed and you think "man, he couldn't hit a barn door"…then suddenly, you realise he's over 100 yards away using iron sites on a borrowed rifle….lol We salute you sir!

  5. Like the Ruger Scout more than the Savage Scout. And way more than fhe Mossberg Scout. Accuracy & quality wise.

  6. Thanks hickok for this video. First saw it back in 2012 after seeing this rifle in my local gun store. Finally got one in late 2012 and have loved it. I have many other rifles but I consider this one to be just for me. I did have to get the left handed model and I did put a Nikon forward mounted scope. It is a dream to shoot. Will always be in my collection and will never get rid of it. Thanks again for the video. You should do a range 3.

  7. My husband can shoot a bolt action like it's an AR.
It stays at the shoulder and he keeps the sight picture.
Once you have the muscle memory working for you every thing is AUTOMATIC!

  8. Good shooting Hickock 45
My husband say's shooting offhand from the standing is the hardest to do.
    He watches your channel
    Greetings from Canada.

  9. Yup, Hickok! Can't beat a MauseRuger for a bolt action rifle. Can't justify this Scout for now, but, see it in my future.

  10. This rifle is heaven in Australia, but the government here would prefer you to use a sling shot if you could prove the need for it. DO NOT LIVE HERE IT'S A PRISON.

  11. How you doing hickok45 i have just starting watching you videos. just really like how you present the guns and overall knowledge for the the guns you show. i was wondring what you preferred to use for a bolt action rifle the Ruger Scout .308 or the Savage .308, thank you

  12. I really like this rifle and have been looking for one. It looks so kool. Reminds Me of the Enfield No.5 Jungle Carbine. Which is another favorite.

  13. Coming from California, I live vicariously through your videos. Thank you Hickok for your videos throughout the years. I love the pure happiness you convey immediately after hearing a 'KLING' right after hitting a steel target. Cheers!

  14. Hickok,

Dunno if you'll see this on an old vid, but I'm in the market for one of these since I've always been a fan of Jeff Cooper's Scout Rifle concept. They have one on the market in 18" and was wondering what your thoughts on a longer barrel for this rifle would be.

  15. I love my Ruger GSR in .308. A couple things to add is that noted gun editor/writer and t.v. host Ed Head from Gunsite was instrumental in working with Ruger in the designing of this rifle. Also, I believe the magazines are Accuracy International mags, so thankfully Ruger is now making their own polymer versions. I love your reviews and hope that You-Tube and Google quit messing with your videos. Keep up the great work!
